Emotion Regulation & Anxiety
Do you care a lot … about everything?
Are you ‘too self aware’, but nothing changes?
Have others called you ‘dramatic’ or ‘sensitive’?
Your emotions may come in waves that overwhelm you. You try to think your way out of them, but no amount of ruminating or self-awareness has soothed the pit in your stomach, the gripping in your chest. Maybe you feel so deeply that it’s hard to make sense of it all, and others simply don’t understand.
Through a mind-body approach to therapy we can explore beneath the surface to move beyond overthinking or ignoring emotions, toward the deep connections and meaningful life you crave.
PTSD
You put on a smile for your friends and family, but you don’t really feel it. Ever since then, you feel like a different person who sees people in a negative light. Maybe those memories come up out of nowhere, you avoid that place at all costs, or you feel irritable and disconnected.
If you’ve experienced a dangerous, violating, or upsetting event, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) can help you process what happened, understand the thoughts and beliefs keeping you stuck, and move toward feeling more present, connected, and like yourself again.
Do you feel like you’re constantly pretending?
Do you blame yourself for what has happened to you?
Are you always on edge?
CPTSD & Childhood Trauma
Does something feel ‘off’ but you can’t quite explain it?
Does it feel safer to be on your own, or do it yourself?
Do you yearn for a life where you belong?
Maybe it was a series of small hurts, nothing catastrophic. Your parents weren’t there for you in the way you needed, you always felt misunderstood, or you felt unsafe where you lived. Over time, you may have learned how to adapt, to help yourself be okay. But adapting meant moving away from your truest self. Maybe you had to learn to show up differently in relationships, suppress your emotions, or take care of others before yourself. Now you may feel unsatisfied in your relationships; you don’t feel at home in your body; your emotions feel overwhelming - if you even allow yourself to feel them. Maybe you tell yourself you should be fine, but your body says otherwise.
Somatic trauma therapy can help you understand the ways you’ve learned to adapt. Together we’ll support you to reconnect to your authentic self and build the life that fulfills you.
Using NARM and CPT therapies, I work with your mind, body, emotions, and spirit to gently uncover patterns that may no longer be serving you. People I work with often feel that this approach goes deeper than traditional talk therapy and gets to the root of their concerns.
